Our Proposal

On Friday, February 24, 2012, Chicago was supposed to have a huge blizzard. AJ only had to work for two hours that day, so Katie said if it snowed, she would take the day off from work. They made plans to go our for a walk along the North Avenue bulkhead to take pictures of the snowy beach and the city skyline.

The blizzard didn't happen - Chicago ended up with a dusting of snow, but Katie decided to take the day off anyway.

After AJ got back from work, they took a walk over to the bulkhead on North Avenue Beach.

Katie took lots and lots of pictures!

Then, AJ asked Katie to take a picture of him in front of the sky line.

He looked at the picture, and asked her to take it again. But as she was getting ready to take the picture, he started taking off his gloves and unzipping his jacket.

He said, "Wait, I think I have something for you."

Katie thought she knew what it was, but she wasn't sure. She asked "Wait, what are you doing? Are you doing what I think you are doing?!"

AJ took out the ring, and got down on one knee and said,

"Do you remember how I told you I knew I loved you the night we met? Well, I knew something else too.
Will you marry me?"

Katie cried a little bit, and said yes. AJ put the ring on her finger. Katie remembered to take a picture of her ring with the skyline in the background, but forgot to take pictures of them!

But that's okay, she remembered to take pictures of them when they got back home!

After they called everyone, Katie and AJ went to lunch at Carmine's.
